![]() I just received the first prototype for my metal yarn bowls - this one is aluminum - let me know your thoughts - what would you change? Once we get the design part figured out they will be made in some artistic finishes and offered for sale - online (through my website) as well as through local yarn shops - and with any luck, if there is interest, we'll be selling them to yarn shops across the U.S.A. - but that's later. Right now, we have to find out if anyone is interested in a metal yarn bowl :) Comments04/01/2009 2:43pm
I really like the metal yarn bowl. I think it will look great on the coffee table, filled with yarn, while I'm working on a project!

For sure, it's got some great potential. It has a lot of potential for more than just knitting!

I am interested in the metal bowl because there would be less drag on the yarn. Ceramic could be damaging on a loopy or fragile yarn. Whereas I do not think metal would snag it at all.

Will this bowl rust, I was thinking that I might be able to use them in the nail salon. Is that possible?

I'd buy one if it was heavy and not tippy, more narrow at the top or straight sided. When pulled the yarn has a tendency to hop around. Try it. Also if you could 'swirl/curve' the yarn hole a little more so the yarn will stay in the opening. More like a pig's tail. You can see what I mean by googling other yarn bowls. It would have to be slick and majorly non-snagging. Otherwise, it looks gorgeous!!! It would be cool in an oxidized copper color too! How much?
