The Good & The Bad: 2 finished paintings 12/16/2008
![]() Finished 2 paintings last night - this one 32" x 32" to emulate the art of Andrew Wyeth... it's of my bedroom window - the house is over a century old and in New Middletown, IN (about 30 miles from Jeffersonville, IN and near Louisville, KY) - I want to do more to this one but it had to be finished enough to turn in... so here it is... ![]() and this one - a self portrait that I didn't want to do... both for school... I'm pretty happy with the first one but the self portrait will probably be painted over (after it's graded tonight!) the stairs are from a mansion in Louisiana (I've never been) and I'm sitting on the stairs knitting.. I think it looks like I have makeup on... but for my first portrait in acrylic (ever) and painting of a human form in years (over a decade since I tried!) I think it's pretty good. I'll try again but this one isn't something I feel interested in saving... unless I'm convinced otherwise... CommentsJudy G. Tue, 16 Dec 2008 15:28:18 You were definitely channelling Wyeth with the house picture. Just think- in fifty or a hundred years, someone will uncover your self-portrait and say "Oh, rats. I was hoping for Dogs Playing Poker"." Tue, 16 Dec 2008 15:34:06 I love both of them!! Great work :) Wed, 17 Dec 2008 07:42:25 Ah yes, projects are never really done, are they? They're just due. I am most impressed. I may have mentioned this before, but I can barely draw stick figures without a ruler! Mon, 29 Dec 2008 20:53:41 Absolutely wonderful paintings. You are a very talented artist, Kyle, keep up the great work! ann Tue, 30 Dec 2008 18:51:15 Tue, 30 Dec 2008 18:54:25 I hope you have reconsidered painting over your self portrait. I think you did a great job! Leave a Reply |
