What have I been doing?  I have been running... working on knitting projects... preparing for a vacation... getting ready for the Spring 2010 semester at school - How exciting it is to announce 12 more cast aluminum yarn bowls for sale - they're showcased on my etsy site - more yummy gold colored bowls, more delicious violet colored bowls... and introducing gorgeous blue bowls!  Click on the link or visit my SHOP to take a gander!

In other news - we are about to go on vacation - for a wonderful week in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with just under 20 amazing friends - I can't wait to share stories and photos from our trip - but that'll be in a few weeks.  Now... what do we bring with us on vacations?  KNITTING! - I have started a new project - the Latvian Vest from Knitty - size 4 circular needles - and alternating an oatmeal yarn with some fantastic Kauni Effektgarn which slowly changes colors from maroon to pumpkin to chocolate brown! - yes, 272 stitches, fair isle chart patterns... this is how I relax.  (I promise not to drink and knit) - LOL - it's on its way - started... and the color is starting to change! I'm so excited about this project!

Talk with you in a few weeks!!!

Congratulations, John Niegowski of Flint, MI - YOU are the winner of the polished Aluminum yarn bowl!  Yes, it's true - thanks to your generosity and a little bit of luck (and the help of random.org to select the number) YOU, my friend, are the winner of the highly sought after polished aluminum yarn bowl!!!

I appreciate everyone's donations more than I can say - in total I received 21 donations totaling $174.92 as a result of this contest!!!  - that money goes right to AIDS Project Los Angeles and they'll use it to provide essential care and services to those affected by HIV/AIDS!

Tomorrow, I'll be running 7 miles (a recovery run from last week's 14) and I can't wait to tell my fellow runners how generous all my friends in the knitting community were with this contest!  THANK YOU to everyone who participated and took time out of their holiday schedule to play along.  I plan to hold future contests to continue raising money for APLA and in hopes of reaching my fundraising goal of $5,000.00!

                            Happy Holidays, everyone!

Metal Yarn Bowl - Prototype - interested in one? 04/01/2009

I just received the first prototype for my metal yarn bowls - this one is aluminum - let me know your thoughts - what would you change?  Once we get the design part figured out they will be made in some artistic finishes and offered for sale - online (through my website) as well as through local yarn shops - and with any luck, if there is interest, we'll be selling them to yarn shops across the U.S.A. -  but that's later.  Right now, we have to find out if anyone is interested in a metal yarn bowl :)

                            Let me know!
